Visibility is key to attracting clients.
In most cases, the people you would love to work with have to
- see you to know you exist.
- read about you to know what you do.
- hear you in a 1:1 convo, or on some type of video platform.
But here’s the thing, you can be visible on social media every single day, but if you’re not showing how you are the answer to a specific problem and that you actually get results, or have done something above and beyond the norm, people may not trust you enough to invest in you.
So visibility without credibility will get you seen, but probably not paid in the way you want to be. So how do you become known as a credible expert?
Here are nine ways to boost your credibility
- Have a clear, concise results-based message that easily communicates how you help people. This is where it starts, but you have to be consistent with getting it out wherever and however you can.
- Invest in your branding. Perception is reality. Professional visual branding, website, social media graphics show that you’ve invested in your business and are in it for the long haul. Plus, your branding stands for you when you’re not around, and it can repel as easily as it attracts.
- Get known for ONE thing (maybe two). If you notice, industry leaders are known for a signature program and a core competency, then they branch out. Lisa Sasevich is the Queen of Sales, although she has programs around speaking and holding events, they all lead to that end result…Kendall Summerhawk has become known for her coaching certification programs and VIP days.
- Publish a book. Writing a book is a long journey, but people respect authors and publishing automatically positions you as an authority.
- Provide social proof. Calling yourself an expert is one thing, but having others back that up with testimonials about how you get them results is confirmation.
- Host an event. Hold a summit or other event around a specific topic and feature other thought leaders.
- Publish a blog, vlog, or ezine. Consistently sharing your ideas and value keeps them coming back for more.
- Host a TV show or podcast. This takes some work and commitment, but again, it shows that you are committed to your cause — and your business.
- Get media coverage. Media features you if you have something important or different to say that the public should know about, so they won’t feature just anybody who submits a press release.
Showing that you’re a credible expert is crucial when it comes to creating an image. Anyone can say they’re the best at something, but when you have others saying it too, it becomes more believable.
When you go the extra step and invest your time, effort, and money into your cause – to offer a platform for others, or to get your message out to the world in a bigger way, you are elevated to a higher level and people see you as a leader and influencer.
Anyone can post on social media three times a week, but going above and beyond and positioning yourself as a leader is what will help you to stand out and get noticed.
